AOF Activities & Events
A week after traditional Easter, on Sunday afternoon, AOF and the Humanist Association of the Greater Sacramento Area (HAGSA) once again join forces for the Flying Spaghetti Monster Pastover celebration. Because the Past is Over, a new day dawns.
As usual, festivities will include a spaghetti feed with garlic bread, salad and other goodies, beverages, entertainment, two pirate costume contests (one for adults, one for children through age 14), and a fabulous door prize. The basic menu will be vegan but with meatballs and other non-vegan options available on the side.
PLEASE NOTE: The location will be Curtis Hall, at the SW corner of the Sierra 2 Center, not AOF’s usual Room 10 meeting site.
Suggested Admission: $5 adults, $2.50 children 12 and under.
Net proceeds, any profit after room rental and basic costs, will benefit the fund for a Sacramento Reason House.
Who is the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM)? He is simply the noodly deity of The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and its system of beliefs, "Pastafarianism," founded in 2005 by Bobby Henderson to protest the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to require the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to biological evolution. Henderson’s point was to underscore the fallacy of teaching intelligent design alongside scientific evolution in public school science classes. In the few short years since his original satirical letter to the Kansas School Board, a large following has “evolved.” For more information, visit http://www.venganza.org/.
What is Reason House? Our vision for Reason House is a hall under the common ownership of Sacramento-area freethought groups, which will serve as a home and meeting facility for all organizations within the Sacramento Community of Reason. This is a good cause. Come to "PastOver" and support it!
