AOF Activities & Events
Our June meeting will be a open-mike, round-robin media review. Please bring at least one example of a most-admired or most-deplored book, novel, poem, article, movie, piece of music, piece of art, television program or other media. Be ready to tell us about it.
Naturally we hope for something related to freethought, of interest to freethinkers, or at least cerebral -- but your limit is your imagination. Be playful, creative. Review it, deconstruct it, tell us why you admired or disliked it, how it enhanced your life or utterly wasted your time. Should we read/see it immediately, or avoid it like pox, and why? You may review more than one item, of course, but for fairness just one at a time. After review-round one, everyone with a second media-item will get a chance at the lectern, and so on. Thus, if you have several, do the most interesting one first. AOF “open mike” sessions have always been a success, so expect a fun and educational afternoon. You might even want to take notes.
We hope to make this more of a party- and social-event, so edible/potable goodies for the snack table will be welcome – finger foods only, nothing heavy (canapés yes, roast turkey no) (unless your book is a turkey). As usual, AOF will provide a beverage.
