"The Resurrection of the Christ-Myth" with Dr. Robert M. Price
Be real now, you simply can't miss this epic show. Dr. Robert M. Price is of half-mythic stature himself, a galaxy of light against the night of smaller minds: philosopher, theologian, freethinker, former Baptist minister, fellow of the Jesus Seminar, past editor of the Journal of Higher Criticism, professor of Biblical studies at the CFI Institute, podmaster of the Bible Geek and Human Bible podcasts, guest star of The God Who Wasn't There, and author of numerous books on theology and Jesus's historicity, including Deconstructing Jesus (2000), The Reason Driven Life (2006), Jesus is Dead (2007), Inerrant the Wind: The Evangelical Crisis in Biblical Authority (2009), The Case Against the Case for Christ (2010), and The Amazing Colossal Apostle: The Search for the Historical Paul (2012). He has ruffled feathers, rankled tempers and left a trail of furrowed brows all across Christendom. He calls himself a Christian Atheist. And on top of it all, he is a noted H.P. Lovecraft scholar! Excuse us, we pause for oxygen. (...huff...huff...)
Look at those hotlinks. Unless you've had your soul surgically removed, you know this is something. Now across the wild wastes, from his home in far, misty North Carolina, the wise Dr. Price comes here, another amazing guest of the amazing AOF Speaker Series. AOF is proud to import this lively gentleman ex-pastor's wit and insight, gleened from years of research, personal epiphany, two PhDs in religious studies, and decades of dodging bricks. Bring your friends, bring your family, belivers or doubters, bring them, bring anyone who might like to see why many now take note of Dr. Price's idea that Jesus Christ was as purely mythic as Hercules. You need not agree. But the idea of it threads the warp and woof of his several books, particularly The Incredible Shrinking Son of Man and Deconstructing Jesus. You will enjoy hearing it straight from the scholarly horse. And with luck, Dr. Price might favor us with some anecdotes from his Kafkaesque debate with the notorious arch-apologist, William Lane Craig. Now that will be a tale worth telling!
