Tracie HarrisCheerfully do we present Tracie Harris, yet another ex-fundamentalist who broke the chains, and who brings a glib and common-sensical voice to the popular weekly webcast The Atheist Experience (you can watch episodes here). She co-hosts with Matt Dillahunty, who also spoke not long back at Reason Center. Like Matt, she regularly fields calls from religionists, some reasonable, some deep under the sway of barking bugs burrowing in their brains, and she does it with grace, wit, courtesy and élan. Let her tell you. Let her tell you all about it.

Almost incidentally, Tracie is also a graphic artist, cartoonist, publishing professional, and the creative mind behind the Atheist Eve strip hosted on the Atheist Community of Austin web site.

For this event, she will talk about the "dark side" of religious families - how it is when someone experiences honest incredulity or doubt, and other family members then crush the questioning with emotional abuse and negative stereotypes of unbelievers. We have been there, many of us have. It is not a prettty place. And it can keep us in the closet.

Tracie is a regular voice on the ACA atheist/feminist podcast “Godless Bitches” and has been an occasional voice on ACA’s “Non-Prophets.” Tracie presents to local atheist community groups about activism and has appeared as a guest on a number of atheist podcasts. She has participated as a presenter in Q&A sessions at meetings of the Atheist Alliance of America and American Atheists, and was featured as part of Chris Johnson’s “A Better Life” project in 2012 (highlighting purpose and meaning in the lives of atheists), and was a feature speaker at ReasonCon One in 2014.

Quite a resume.

Fun. Free. All welcome. One more event of the AOF Speaker Series! It just keeps getting better.
