Kim Luke-Lum, longtime Sacramento resident, has a story - no a saga. She has written a fascinating book on the subject of her family’s ordeal and ultimate triumph in America, has spoken to many groups in our area, and has left many eyes a-tear.
The Lu Family Saga covers a historical period of China from 1839 – the first Opium War with the British – to 1965, when Kim’s family arrived in San Francisco as refugees. It takes one back through history, chronicling the moving story of Kim’s ancestors, her family’s village life in Southern China in the 1950s, and her Hong Kong experiences in the early 1960s. And at long last, her family’s freedom voyage to the shores of the United States, the land of immigrants.
Such a story! For more information about it and about Kim, see LuFamilySaga.com.
